Reality Wargames is now focused on Reality Tabletop, a mixed-reality virtual tabletop for Meta Quest and, eventually, other OpenXR devices.
The idea is straightforward: choose a surface in your room, place virtual maps on it, position and move counters, roll dice, and return to saved tabletop sessions later. Reality Tabletop is a sandbox rather than a rules engine. It provides the table and tools while leaving the game’s rules and decisions to the players.
What works in the pre-alpha
The current build includes passthrough mixed reality, real-surface play-area selection, multiple boards, hex maps, counter interaction, physics dice with roll history, and named sandboxes that can be saved and restored.
These systems are still changing. There is no public download, release date, or pricing announcement yet.
What comes next
The immediate work is making the sandbox more stable and comfortable to use on Quest. User map and counter libraries are next, followed by an in-XR map editor. Features such as 3D miniatures, additional grid styles, wider OpenXR support, and multiplayer remain longer-term goals.
Development videos and concise companion notes will be published here as the project becomes ready to show. If you want to follow along—or volunteer for an appropriate pre-alpha test round—join the Reality Tabletop playtest list.
